Why Freezer Cooking?

"What's for dinner?"

"Ummmm...."

Feeling foiled every time someone in your house asks you that? Yeah, that's about the fastest way to ruin what was an otherwise productive and happy day. Trust me, that comes from experience. You either start mentally scouring your fridge, or you literally begin flinging open every cupboard in the kitchen, moving things around in the fridge, and then blankly staring into the frozen tundra of half eaten bags of tater tots that is your freezer.

Nice.

We used to be there, but now we've got a freezer full of delicious meals that we can throw in the oven, microwave, or crock pot. Take that dinnertime!

This is why you need The Freezer Cooking Club, and this is how it works:

  • There are 5+ of us
  • We each pick 2 meals that are budget friendly, tasty, and freezer friendly.
  • We share our recipes with each other online.
  • One of us compiles the recipes, makes a thorough shopping list, and buys the groceries for ALL the meals.
  • One of us prints all the recipes and creates a prep list for the meals so we can cook with maximum efficiency.
  • We meet once a month on a Saturday night at one of our houses and we cook our hearts out!
  • We buy aluminum pans, Ziploc bags, and LOTS of foil to package our food.
  • We divide the cost of the groceries by 5 (or however many of us participated). We average between $50-$70 a month for at least 10 meals. (Plus each meal has left-overs...so it is a great deal!)
  • We each leave with 10 delicious, healthy, no-preservatives-added freezer meals.
It is that simple and we love it!

Give it a try and start your own freezer group! You'll find links and notes about our favorite (and not so favorite) recipes here, tips on starting your own group, shopping lists, and more.

Bonne chance and freeze on!
April, Cortney, Katie, Kristi, and Stacey
